Getting started

What is Currvo?

Currvo is a free online currency converter for both traditional money (fiat) and cryptocurrency. It gives you live, mid-market reference rates for dozens of world currencies and the major cryptocurrencies, alongside plain-English explanations of how conversion works.

Is Currvo free to use?

Yes, completely. There is no account, no sign-up, and no paywall. Currvo is supported by advertising, which lets us keep the tool free for everyone.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Currvo works instantly with no registration. Any favorites or conversion history are saved locally in your browser, so they stay with you on that device without an account.

Can I install Currvo as an app?

Yes. Currvo is a progressive web app (PWA), so you can add it to your home screen on mobile or install it on desktop. Once installed it loads quickly and can show recently cached rates even with a weak connection.

Rates and accuracy

How accurate are Currvo's exchange rates?

Currvo uses mid-market reference rates from established public data providers, refreshed on a short cycle. They are an accurate snapshot of the market for informational purposes. Keep in mind that the rate you actually receive when exchanging money will differ, because providers add their own margin.

Why is my bank's rate different from the one on Currvo?

Currvo shows the mid-market rate, the fair midpoint between buy and sell prices. Banks, card networks, and exchange desks add a margin (the spread) on top to make money on the exchange, so the rate you get is slightly worse. The wider the spread, the more the convenience is costing you. We explain this in detail on the mid-market rate guide.

How often do the rates update?

Reference data refreshes on a short cycle, typically every few minutes. Fiat markets move continuously on weekdays, while crypto trades around the clock, so crypto figures in particular are best read as "accurate as of now."

Where does Currvo get its data?

Fiat rates come from ExchangeRate-API, crypto prices and market data come from CoinGecko, and historical crypto data comes from Binance public market data. The full breakdown is on the about page.

Can I see historical exchange rates?

Yes. The history page and the charts on each coin's page let you look back at how a rate has moved over time, from the last 24 hours to multi-year views.

Cryptocurrency

Which cryptocurrencies does Currvo support?

Currvo covers the major cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, BNB, Cardano, Dogecoin, and many more. You can browse them all on the crypto prices page.

Is the crypto price I see a quote I can lock in?

No. Currvo is an informational tool, not an exchange. Because crypto markets move continuously, a price is accurate as of the moment it was fetched and can change quickly. Treat it as a close estimate rather than a locked transaction price.

What is market cap, and why does it matter?

Market capitalization is a coin's price multiplied by how many units are in circulation. It is the fairest way to compare the size of two coins, because a low price per coin does not mean a coin is "cheap" if there are billions of them. Learn more in the market cap guide.

Why might two sites show slightly different crypto prices?

Crypto trades on many exchanges at once, each with its own order book. A displayed price is an average across venues, and different sites average slightly differently or update at slightly different moments. Small gaps are normal.

Privacy and fees

Does Currvo charge any fees?

No. Currvo does not charge anything and does not add a margin to the rates it shows. It is a free reference tool funded by advertising, not a service that processes exchanges.

What data does Currvo collect about me?

Currvo does not require an account and does not collect personal profiles. Your conversion history and favorites live in your browser's local storage. We use standard analytics and advertising partners; full details are in the privacy policy.

Can I use Currvo offline?

Partly. As an installed PWA, Currvo can load and show the most recently cached rates without a connection. For live, up-to-the-minute rates you will need to be online so the latest data can be fetched.
